De hera e flores esculpidas em pedra-Of sculptured ivy and stone flowers-
Até há muitos e muitos santuário maravilhosoUp many and many a marvellous shrine
Cuja trança frisos entrelaçamWhose wreathed friezes intertwine

Em pouco afundando, o maçante maréIn slightly sinking, the dull tide-
Como se seus topos tinha dado debilmenteAs if their tops had feebly given
Um vazio dentro do céu velado.A void within the filmy heaven.
As ondas têm agora mais vermelhas que brilhamThe waves have now a redder glow-
As horas estão respirando leve e de baixoThe hours are breathing faint and low-
E quando, em meio a gemidos não terrena,And when, amid no earthly moans,
Abaixo, abaixo daquela cidade deve se contentar, portanto,Down, down that town shall settle hence,
Inferno, passando de mil tronos,Hell, rising from a thousand thrones,
