Almost

It could be worse,
at least it's not the end of the world for us,
at least I'm looking back and realising what went wrong,
why did it last for so long?
What did I build,
that could come crashing down?
So things have changed but you stayed the same,
the flaws in your character are showing through.
Is this the end of you?
Or the end of the line?
Can't let that happen,
I placed my heart in this,
invested all my trust in these foundations.
It was hard,
but I knew I'd make it,
until I failed the one thing that I lived up to...
Depending on a dream to see me through...
nourishing the pain that I could feel
and hoping that with time this would heal.
Lacing our goodbyes with regret,
at least I know that I'll never forget that the greatest hope surrounds our dreams,
even when we don't deserve it.
Not only have I seen what it takes...
I measured myself to the standard which is required by you,
just to walk in your shadow.
Not only have I fallen down,
I've picked myself back up again.
This whole ordeal has made me stronger so I can last the distance.
