Ash Upon Ruin

Beyond the pearl white pillars
Revel in delusion
Glazed eyes to the horizon
Fixed upon eternity

Blind to the coming storm
Their tepid foundations shall crumble
Whilst the demons of the present
Devour at will

Oh how the skies darken
From the brightest blue to a hopeless shade of grey
A vortex of suspicions
Doubts towards the promise of deliverance

Eyes wide with fear
What of the promise of salvation?
Where is this god now?

The sinking feeling sets in
Lacerations of despair
Frost now ravages valleys green
Leaving a void of nothingness
No dove nor angel of mercy
Hope has fled these lands
For the omen that stands before you now
Is the hooded figure of death..

They cry to their saviour
Praying for solace before the altar of decay

Hails to the blackest of plagues
A fevered pox of death
Witness the tides of darkness descend

Smothered beneath the chaos of the onslaught
Gasping screams of the fallen

Rabid wolves feast upon seraphim
As the flames of truth scour all

Nothing remains
But ash upon ruins

Breathe deep your last choking breaths
