Over the wall can you hear the sound?
Stone by stone it's tumbling down
Togetherness is what you most fear
Oppression, your end is near

In they ghetto they pass the word
Freedom's voice it must be heard
Link by link the chains are snapping
Apartheid, your nerve is cracking

Optimism ain't far away
It's here, it's here right now
Tell me what you've got to lose
Optimism's here now

Shanty town blues they're starting to fade
Can't you see the brand new age?
Needy people who want what's theirs
Bit by bit they'll get their share

Misery lines fast getting longer
Day by day will grows stronger
The time has come prepare for change
It's up to us to turn the page

Pessimism, there's no need
No real point, just like greed
Pessimism, there's the door
Don't come round' here anymore
Pessimism, waste of time
Stay away from my mind
Pessimism, what's the use?
Optimism's what we choose
