Paper Wall

I built a barrier, I built it out of stationery
I thought the ink would make the border feel a bit more scary
But now the wind is picking up and I am finding out
That graphite isn't great for keeping all the monsters out
I'm taping up the seams, I'm trying to reinforce the gate
But the thickness of the page is not enough to hold the weight
One rip, two tears, now I'm seeing through the grain
I'm trying to keep a dry head while I'm standing in the rain

You can't hide behind a thin disguise

These paper walls won't hold the weight of the sky

I'm screaming at the ink until the well runs dry

Yeah, you're folding under pressure like a card in a deck
You put the rope around the house and then you put it on your neck
It's a fragile architecture, it's a delicate frame
You're trying to build a fortress out of nothing but a name
But look the moisture's setting in, the pulp is getting soft
You're losing every floor from the basement to the loft

Once the structural integrity is gone, it's the end
