I took some steps, some going back
But I can feel I'm moving on
It doesn't mean I don't look over my shoulder
I just know I can't go back to where I'm from

I'm taking steps that really matter
Walking roads I've never known
Moving forward, even shaking
I've been lost for far too long

Twelve steps even when I'm scared
It's forward that life always goes
The unknown is pulling at my chest
But I go, yeah, I go anyway though

The hardest part of all this healing
Is learning I can stand alone
That even shaking in the silence
I can learn to walk my own road home

Some things stayed back in my past
Some still walk right next to me
I'll keep moving step by step
Even blind, at least I'm free
