Risen

You told us what would come one day
But none of us could see the way
Destroy this temple, You had said
In three days, I will raise it up again

Could it be true? Is this the day?
What did we witness on the way?
My heart is trembling, filled with joy
Could death have really lost its hold?
Could He be living as He told?

The stone was moved, the tomb stood bare
The One we buried wasn't there
Just as He promised, it came true
The third day made His words brand new
What glorious news for every land
For every tongue and every man
From every nation, come and see
The grave has lost its victory

I heard You speak upon the tree
Father, forgive them, painfully
The ones who hurt You heard You pray
Yet mercy answered them that day

Surely, this was the Holy One
The promised and beloved Son
The blood He gave has made us clean
What greater love have we ever seen?
What mercy stood in that dark scene

The stone was moved, the tomb stood bare
The One we buried wasn't there
Just as He promised, it came true
The third day made His words brand new
What glorious news for every land
For every tongue and every man
From every nation, come and see
The grave has lost its victory

We brought the spices for the dead
Still grieving every word You said
Two shining figures met us there
Why seek the living with the dead?

The words You gave returned so clear
The truth had dried away our tears
What will we tell them when we arrive?
Tell them that our Lord is alive!

The stone was moved, the tomb stood bare
The One we buried wasn't there
Just as He promised, it came true
The third day made His words brand new
What glorious news for every land
For every tongue and every man
From every nation, come and see
The grave has lost its victory
